You may be surprised at the new ‘hot’ event for corporate hospitality. What is it?

If you are used to entertaining your key clients and prospects at sporting events you have probably been to the Rugby Autumn Internationals or Six Nations, visited many of the countries horse racing tracks such as Ascot and Cheltenham or maybe enjoyed a game of cricket on a summer’s day. Recently, however, we have noticed a trend for a new sport developing and you may be surprised to learn what this is – darts.

A number of our clients are now taking their guests to Darts competitions. When asked what the attraction is we have been given a number of reasons.  Compared to other sporting events you can entertain guest for a fraction of the costs, often making savings of up to 50%. There are venues up and down the country; this is not a London and South East centric event. It is perceived as a more relaxed and casual day/evening giving plenty of opportunity to build on old and establish new relationships with clients over a few beers.

It is also highly entertaining, full of characters like Bobby George one of the more notable names to have taken to the oche. His popularity is due in the main to his showmanship – ‘I felt the game needed a bit of sparkle and razzmatazz. So I wore a medallion’.

This is where darts differs and continues to swell its fan-base, because it is not merely a sport, it is a show and a spectacle in the same way that it’s arena filling compatriots are.

So next time you are thinking of getting together with some key clients or staff and want to send an invitation that will catch their eye, why not give us a call and let us talk you through the options.
