Glorious Goodwood is rich with verve, style and finesse. And after signing a lucrative 10-year agreement with Qatar in late 2014 to be headline sponsor of the Glorious Goodwood, it added another dimension to this already must be at event. Now branded as the Qatar Goodwood Festival, the event has been launched furthermore into the awareness of race goers, corporations and celebrities alike.

It’s just 35 short days until the start of the 5-day horse-racing festival on the course based on the Sussex Downs. For instance, the winner of the Group 1 Qatar Sussex Stakes will win £1million. That’s an eye-watering increase of £700,000 on last year’s winner.

Furthermore, it has further cemented its place in British Summer Social Scene together with Royal Ascot, Wimbledon, British GP and Henley Regatta. You’ll be thinking what do I wear? Whilst Glorious Goodwood can be mentioned in the same breath as horse racing heavyweight event Royal Ascot, it’s not as formal as the June based event. The theme for Goodwood is stylish yet relaxed. Therefore, the advice from Goodwood is for gentlemen are required to wear jackets and either ties, cravats or polo neck sweaters in the Richmond Enclosure. Linen suits and Panama Hats are traditionally worn by gentlemen. Jeans and shorts are not permitted in the Richmond Enclosure. In other enclosures dress is smart casual. Bare tops and fancy dress are not allowed in any enclosure. Due to the terrain and areas of decking at Goodwood flat shoes are recommended.

Lord March – grandee of the Goodwood estate – is presiding over some of Britain’s biggest events within the Goodwood Estate. Complementing Glorious Goodwood, the Goodwood Festival of Speed starts a few days before the horse racing whilst the Goodwood Revival is a step back in time to 50’s and 60’s racing around the famous motor-racing circuit that’s just yards from the horse racing track.
