Do you ever wish it was easier to plan food and drink catering at your events?
You’re not alone.
This single element of event planning always seems to be the bane of the event planner’s life. And it’s because there are so many moving parts and things you have to check and then triple-check.
So in our 2nd edition of our top tips for making your events go off without a hitch series this month, we’re giving you a free checklist to follow each time.
No more catering nightmares invading your sleep with this…
Psst… you can also watch a video about this checklist on YouTube (link below)
- What vibe are you going for at your event? Your first decision is an easy one – choose between a formal catering experience or more of a casual bowl food/street food vibe.
- How many guests are coming? Don’t be tempted to order for 30 guests knowing that 40 are on the guest list to save money. You will regret it.
- When should the food be served? Timing is of the utmost importance when it comes to food and drink. If people come straight from the office, for example, ensure the food is ready swiftly. Likewise, don’t leave serving food so long that belly rumblings and side-glances towards the kitchen doors become the main theme of your event.
- Have you tasted the food you’ll be serving? Do a menu tasting. And take pics so that you can check on the night that what is served measures up
- Are there any specific dietary requirements? Check with your guest to see if vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options will be needed. And always have a little over for each requirement just in case. When we run events we order a vegetarian option for our staff which we can swap with guests if necessary.
Using this 5-point checklist will make food and drink planning stress-free next time you come to organise your event so save it now and use it later!
Next week we’ll dive into the world of gift-giving at events.
