Summertime Celebrations

Creating bespoke team and company celebrations for your business.

Let Oliver Myles Events help design and organise your annual summer party. We’ll work with you to really understand your team and business and have a host of ideas and experience when it comes to creating fantastic summer parties. Here are just a few:

Dragon Boat Racing

This is a fantastic option – to spend the day taking part in competitive Dragon Boat racing.

Very much ticking the “fun activity” box, this option gives a team the chance to take part in a colourful, exhilarating rowing competition throughout the day. In terms of an active experience with your colleagues – which builds throughout the morning and afternoon, culminating in exciting semi-final and final races – this makes for an unforgettable day.

The activity involves teams of around 10 people competing against each other in 30ft dragon boats.

We use experienced British Dragon Boat Racing Association qualified staff, who we have worked with for many years, and who would of course offer a full safety briefing and guide all participants in the aspects of paddle technique.

Once on the water, a drummer beats time at the front of each boat and there is a qualified helm at the back, giving instructions and keeping the boat on course. Each race is only around 3 minutes – short, fast and very fun!

Schools Sports Day

Another fantastic option is a high energy school sports day.

To make this activity work best, we create a number of teams (distinguished by the classic school coloured t-shirt) with every member taking part in all the various school sports activities.

We would work with you to pick exactly which school sports activities you’d like for your event. Popular ones are:  bean bag balance, giant sack race, egg & spoon race, wellie wangling, hockey-dribble, space hopper, football dribble, triple ski racing, skipping, tug-of-war and the wheelbarrow race.

Heats are run for each activity and points awarded for all places, which our team logs. The winning team at the end of the activity will, of course, receive medals and bubbly! Making this event even more fun, we bring with us full school sports theming including Grange Hill background music and a headteacher with mortar board and cape, and deliver ongoing MC commentary.

From our experience, the optimum duration for this activity is around two hours (it doesn’t really work when stretched to a full day) so we can bring in other activities for guests to enjoy after this competition should your event be for a full day.

Turning School Sports to an Olympics Event

Olympic theming easily turns a school sports day into an Olympic themed event – for example, using items such as a winners podium, flagpoles, Olympic branded jokers/wildcards, team or country flags for all teams, and team anthems.

Activities – to pepper into your event

Balloon-artists workshop

We work with an award-winning balloon artist who has been a huge hit at many of our events. Lisa takes the skill of balloon-making to a whole other level, creating stunning displays and then teaching guests to create a whole host of themed-elements to add to the sculpture.

Balloon making has become very fashionable and popular again following the artworks created by Jeff Koons. https://www.ashmolean.org/jeffkoons

This is not only great fun and a dip-in-dip-out type activity, the photo opportunities are spectacular, plus everyone can take their creations home with them!

Country and Western style line-dancing instruction

This active option teaches line dance to everyone. It is a great option if you are looking for something that the whole group can do all at the same time. With everyone dancing in straight lines and moving together in an organised way it also lends itself well as a celebration of team work.

Steel band and limbo dancing

A steel band with limbo dancing is another great option.  We would start things off with a limbo dancing display by our dancers, before your team have a go themselves.

Fortune Telling

Based on the idea that most people are secretly intrigued about the world of fortune-telling and given a chance would love to experience this first-hand, it would be fun, intriguing and very much a talking point to offer Fortune Tellers at your event. An unforgettable and memorable addition to any day.

We have access to a roster of highly rated professional fortune tellers. They are all suited for the corporate market / events scene and will work to make people feel comfortable and at ease as they predict future happenings, focusing on motivational messages. Palmistry and tarot are the main method we recommend for events.

Summer garden games

Another option is to bring in a selection of games that can be enjoyed by guests as and when they wish, in between chatting, eating and drinking. Things like giant versions of Jenga, Connect Four, Buzz-Wire, Balloon Squad (it does get competitive!) and Target Golf work well.

A close-up magician can also astound people from the moment they arrive, creating an immediate atmosphere, laughter and amazement. Our magician was awarded the British Magical Champion, the Magic Circle Silver Star award & WAM Close-up magician of the year.

Fabulous Summer Venues

Let us also help you by finding the right venue for your event. For parties held in London, we have many suggestions of event spaces we have used over the years that lend itself well to the changing great British summertime weather.
