The Green Room
The Epsom Derby is one of the oldest and most famous horse races in the World and is the most popular flat race in the English Racing calendar. Dating back to 1661 it takes place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on the first Saturday in June each year and is the third classic of the English Flat Racing season.
THE EVENT
With a history dating back to 1780, The Epsom Derby is one of the biggest fixtures in the flat racing calendar and one of the UK’s most quintessential summer events.
Ran over two days, Friday (or Oaks Day as it is formally known) has more recently been associated as “Ladies Day” for the event and sees the ever-stylish Epsom crowd turnout in an array of glamourous and vibrant social wear.

Saturday (or Derby Day) sees Epsom Downs play host to royalty and with it, the world famous “Derby” itself. With a prize pot in excess of £1m, this is the richest and most prestigious race in the UK.
THE TALENT
Befitting an occasion of such magnitude, The Green Room at the Epsom Derby is hosted by some of the most informed and recognisable names associated with the sport of kings.
While our celebrity hosts may be comprised primarily of members of the Royal Family and Peerage, it is their equestrian pedigree which will add such significant value to our enjoyment of this most auspicious of races.
Zara Tindall was all but born into the saddle, having inherited her love of horses from her mother, Princess Anne. Zara enjoyed an illustrious eventing career, winning many gold medals with her horse “Toy Town” and securing a hard-fought Silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics on “High Kingdom”. While Zara’s husband, Mike Tindall, maybe better known for his achievements on the rugby field, his love of horses and racing is infectious. Mike’s horse “Monbeg Dude” clocked up a win at the Welsh Grand National in 2013 alongside of an impressive 3rd at the Aintree Grand National in 2015.
Completing the panel is one of racing’s most decorated Jockeys. Sir A.P. McCoy is 20x Champion Jockey, having ridden a record-breaking 4,358 winners in his extensive career. A.P’s racing brain will help guests of The Green Room at Epsom make the most informed decisions on how they pick their winners, while his stories of his time in the saddle will enthuse and inspire.
