Your weekend of Indulgence in the Champagne Region

Welcome to Reims, the heart of the Champagne region, where your weekend getaway awaits. This enchanting city is home to a prestigious lineup of Champagne houses, including renowned names like Mumm, Lanson, Pommery, Ruinart, and the iconic Veuve Clicquot, fondly known as ‘The Widow.’ These celebrated Champagne houses, a part of the elite circle of only 16 establishments honored by L’Academie du Champagne as Grande Marques, are your gateway to an unforgettable Champagne experience.

Friday 12th September

On arrival in Reims you will check in to the lovely 5* La Caserne Chanzy Hotel and Spa, your base for the weekend. Private or valet parking is available at the hotel should you be driving, but there is easy access to Reims by train from Paris as well.

Late in the afternoon we will head out to a local village for a visit to the vineyards and a tasting experience. You will get to taste Champagnes produced by small family vineyards and learn about the strict process involved in making Champagne as well as taking a walk by the vines.

After the visit we will adjourn to the Le Comptoir à Bulles in Sacy, a local hidden gem of a restaurant where we will enjoy a relaxed dinner with accompanying wines. This is a village bistro, but the food is worthy of a fine dining restaurant.

Our bi-lingual host for the visit, Rachel, is a Champagne importer who spent 10 years living in the village.

Saturday 13th September

There will be plenty of free time during the day for you to explore the city or region at leisure or to enjoy the wonderful hotel spa.

The highlight of the trip will be the private evening visit to the noble house of Moet et Chandon, probably the most famous of all the Champagne houses which was established in Epernay by Claude Moet in 1743. Owning 2,900 acres of vineyards in Epernay and the Montagne de Reims, Moet produces up to 28 million bottles of Champagne per year and during dinner each course will be accompanied by a different style of Moet.

Embark on a captivating journey through the magnificent cellars.

Your journey begins as you descend into the enchanting cellars. Prepare to be awe-struck by the sheer abundance of bottles that find their home within these hallowed walls. As you delve deeper, you’ll uncover the fascinating artistry behind the creation of Champagne, guided every step of the way by the expertly knowledgeable guide, who will illuminate the process starting from the very moment the grapes are hand-harvested.

After our enlightening tour, it’s time to savour the exquisite Champagne. Throughout the reception and dinner, you’ll have the pleasure of sampling five distinct styles. We can’t wait to hear which one captures your heart as your personal favorite.

Le Caserne Chanzy 5* Hotel and Spa

La Caserne Chanzy is the only luxury hotel located in the very heart of Reims, right in front of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The hotel’s building is steeped in history. Inaugurated in 1926, it was once the city’s central fire station. It was then transferred outside of the town in 1993. The building stayed empty until 2019, when La Caserne Chanzy Hotel and Spa opened its doors.

The Spa

Discover the intimate universe of the Deep Nature Spa, a delicate mix of raw materials, colours, glass and mirrors, where everything is done to develop the sensory experience. The space of more than 450 m2 includes a pool with hydromassage jets, a sauna, a hammam, a fitness room and five treatment rooms.

Travel to Reims

By Train from Paris

The easiest way to get to Reims is on the high-speed train from Paris, which gets you into the city centre in only 45 minutes. Tickets can be purchased through France’s national rail service, SNCF, and there are several daily trains to the region. All trains to Reims leave from Gare de Est station in Paris and arrive at either Reims or Champagne-Ardenne. The latter is the main station for the region, but it’s located about five miles outside of Reims and you’ll need to take a tram to reach the city centre. If you want to skip the hassle of taking the tram, choose the Gare de Reims (sometimes called Reims Ville) station, which is walking distance from the city’s main sites.

By Car from Calais

It is an easy drive from Calais to Reims on the autoroutes, the A26 takes practically all the way there. Usually takes around 3 hours with short comfort breaks. You should take into account there will be tolls on the roads. At the hotel there is valet parking.
