Congratulating Alan Phillips on his retirement

I’m sure you’ll join with me in wishing good luck and the very best wishes to Alan on his retirement.

After 50+ years working in hospitality, events and catering, he’s bowing out to enjoy his retirement with Margaret. Many of you will appreciate the value Alan has brought to you and the industry at large. His work ethic, customer centric approach, creativity and innovation are just some of his standout traits, especially here at Oliver Myles Events. Many try to copy Alan, few succeed.

I know what you’re thinking; what’s happening with Oliver Myles Events? We will be continuing to provide the finest events and experiences for all current and future customers. As you may know, the team has grown significantly with Alan and I since we started in 2011 and therefore we are in the best possible place to ensure all your needs are met and you can be assured that whatever event we organise for you, it will continue to be in a safe pair of hands.

Since starting work as a commis chef  in of some of London’s illustrious 5 star hotels, Alan has dedicated his professional life to ensuring clients are comfortable and are lavished with the best possible service. He was a steward on BOAC’s (latterly named BA) international flights, and then becoming a powerhouse of London’s majestic hospitality industry at Woods River Services. His abilities as Catering and Operations Director are respected and admired by many. After 20 years meandering down the River, he moved to another part of the Thames at Maidenhead and directed Thames Luxury Charters to continued success. Many guests still remember the supreme hospitality they received from Alan and the team at Henley Royal Regatta

It was at Thames Luxury Charters that Alan developed a real taste for event sales and organisation. After a short stint with a competitor, Alan and I started Oliver Myles Events. Without Alan, his gusto, contacts and drive, OME would still be just a pipe dream.

Alan is a keen gardener and is also looking forward to spending time travelling. Margaret and he have many plans to see the world’s sights. Alan is also looking forward to see more of the family and especially his grandchildren, of which I know he is immensely proud.

Alan, let me say on behalf of us all at OME and everyone you’ve ever worked with; we wholeheartedly appreciate everything you’ve ever done and the list of accomplishments is sizeable. Enjoy your retirement!

Melanie Langley-Managing Director Oliver Myles Events

I’ll leave the final words to Alan: “It has been tremendous working with you over the years. My working life has been rich with experiences and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with you all. Through our adventures, I’ve gained many friends and so this is not goodbye, just “see you soon”. As for the future, I’m looking forward to slowing down a little; Margaret has a lot of plans for me (I hope no DIY!). I’m also looking forward to manicuring my garden so it is the best in the South East and getting my golf handicap down.

Do keep in touch; my mobile number will remain as always. You can also reach me via email: alan@olivermyles.co.uk , Facebook and the local pub/wine bar. Cheers!”
